DOMinate Epilepsy 2025
On August 26, 2017, Dominic had his first seizure, and our lives were forever changed. Within two months, he developed multiple seizure types and was having over 1,000 seizures a day. Dominic was eventually diagnosed with Doose Syndrome, a rare and severe form of childhood epilepsy that is notoriously resistant to medication. In November of 2017, Dominic was placed on a medically prescribed version of the ketogenic diet, which means that 90% of his calories come from fats and all of his meals are calculated to a specific ratio and weighed to the tenth of a gram. He has improved significantly, but we are still striving to attain seizure freedom.
Our mission is to share Dominic's story in order to spread awareness and educate people about epilepsy. Dominic’s syndrome is rare, but epilepsy is not. We need a cure, and that comes through research. Epilepsy is extremely underfunded compared to other neurological disorders. Public and private funding for epilepsy research lags far behind other neurological afflictions. Epilepsy is more common than autism, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and muscular dystrophy COMBINED, yet receives $35 per patient compared to $129 for Alzheimer’s disease and $280 for multiple sclerosis.

Join us on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, at Duffer’s Tavern (Rt. 352 in Glen Mills) where we will be hosting a DOMinate Epilepsy event, with 20% of sales being donated directly to CURE Epilepsy, a non-profit whose mission is to fund research for a cure. We will also have raffle tables in order to maximize our donation. Together we can increase awareness, fund research, and find a cure for Dominic and so many others who are afflicted by this life-changing disorder.
